Destinator

Hi,

Anyone using Destinator in 3D map mode and noticed it quite, slow?

Other day, I was in 3D mode and it was working great, then, I did a kind of U-Turn onto another road.. and it seemed to take AGES for it to rotate (and the locator was stuck on the turning).. and then about 3 - 4 seconds later it decided to update my position..

This is on a Epia M9000 w/ 256mb RAM.. but, a very very slow Hard drive.. which I doubt is running at any higher than UDMA33 if that.. could it be this? Maybe it reads from the HDD all the time to get the map?

Running on WinXP with all pretty things turned off, so I know it ain't that!

Thanks.

I just ot a response from Destinator regarding upgrade from v2 to v3 and all I have to do is send the disks back as I bought v2 6 days before v3 was released. I'd try contacting them if you are in the same position, As soon as I have it I will see if your comments apply as I have the same system

One issue i am seeing at the moment is when driving and i am approaching a turn, roundabout etc, the voice command often misses the distance. I thought it might be speed dependent, but even when i am driving at 40MPH it still has problem giving me the full instruction. I just get the likes of Roundabout ..... Yards.

Steve.

I'm using the Haicom USB too, and it says "YARDS" just on it's own - very odd.. looking at the distance tho, it's like 272 yards so it doesn't have a number for 272.. maybe it's that? I thought it was just a bug.

Rerouting is RAPID tho.. as soon as it says recalculating, it's done.. very quick.

the one supplied with destinator is a SIRFII model...

Destinator could work in std nmea 4800 bds only or SIRFII mode (much faster)

I had a Haicom 202E before...now a roadstar SirfII model (you can found them chaep as well)

For your information from Maria support@destinator1.com

Hello,

in response to your email, notebook version of Destinator V3 is not available yet. It will be available in a couple of months. We can ship you software back to you.
Please advise.
Thank you,

If anyone had other information please advise, I'm happy to wait and have said as much
