The Garmin GPS 16 has a serial port interface. any GPS software should be able to use it, unless it requires a propritary recever (Copilot 2003). Just set the proper com port and off you go.
AFAIK Copilot live 7 is the only GPS software that allows internet reporting of location. Copilot live 7 will support your GPS16a too, so just get the software and skip using their GPS. There hasn't been much use of the live feature in copilot, so I can't tell you how well it works, but it seems to be a pretty cool way of doing things. You can even send Instant messenges to the person. If you go that route, please tell us how it works. My mobile net connection isn't stable enough to use live at the moment.
