infomap navigator

Anyone been having problems with it, Ive had it for about 6 months now, and it can really wind me up.

Its a nice peice of software, but many a time I get to ajunction and it doesnt tell me where to go, so I have to guess and follow the arrow, Last night it was a real help as it got me back to a friends place as I didnt know where I was and she was ****ed up, but going home a road was closed so I detoured and it started sending me down thin country lanes. In the end I went towards the motorway and went home that way.

Anyone else have any problems with infomap?

And what else would you reccomend, for voice nav.

My mum has a compaq I paq and it tells you the road names and everything, infomap just says turn left in 500 meteres etc.

I think she uses copilot????

A couple of things spring to mind.
Have you updated the software since you bought it? You can download 1.3.9 from our website www.action-replay.co.uk/drivers
Make sure you have detailed navigation turned on in tools, settings, navigation
You might want to check your preferences and road speeds as well. I've adjusted the speeds to more realistic values and set it prefer motorways and main roads.

Having tried it a few times I was generally happy. Installing the updates seemed to improve stability greatly. The map rotation is best turned off; although a good idea, the map jumps around like crazy when you are stationary making it next to impossible to have a quick look at the map at junctions etc. Why it can't just lock to the last direction I don't know.

I set the "I'm lost" setting down to 50m and navigation became much more up to date.

The main problem apart from the map rotation is that if you take a turn onto a navigated road but head in the wrong direction the navigator doesn't seem to realize and carries on navigating as if everything is just fine, even after several miles it doesn't seem to realize.
