I showed you the longitude and latitude. You can look it up on your Street Atlas and see if you can get it to show correctly. If you can, tell me how you did it.

Is the Earthmate receiver any good? I couldn't really find much in terms of reviews and they mostly just complained about how much of a PITA it can be to get to work with other software.
There actually is a trial version to Iguidance, I dont know how to get it? But I have seen it packaged with gps recievers on ebay. It is a 30 Day Eval

I have been using SA for years, and I find it locates within feet. Unless the road changed over the years.
In your particular example, is the road in the right location, but the lake is drawn wrong? Is it a reservoir or natural lake? I have seen aviation charts that have lakes drawn wrong.
For $120 bucks, Iguidance better be accurate. I can get 4 SA for that price.
I could have sworn that the new SA had an editing ability...make your own roads?

No tall buildings in my area. Its all suburbs. It shows my location fine a mile down the road, but in the area immediately around my house, the map is totally wrong. Heck, they even have some non existant roads drawn about 2 miles up north!
I took my laptop + gps to another part of the city (no tall buildings there either) this past saturday and the program had some other inaccuracies in that part of the city. Not too bad, but enough to be a pain in the butt if i'm using the system while driving.
Oh, I'm using the data directly from the CD.
Oh well.... its not TOO bad... I guess I could live with it. What bothers me is the map inaccuracies. I haven't encountered any inaccuracies in Streets and Trips 2001, except of course missing roads that have been built since i bought that, but other than that, all the roads, lakes, etc. are in perfect order. Why wouldn't DeLorme get it right?

Streets and Trips 2004 should work with the unit correct?
I might as well go and shell out the cash for it, seeing as 2001 never let me down.

Check this crap out.
This is all just around my neighborhood!
I am going back to MS 2004. THere is no 15s delay anymore btw. Plus there were hacks for previous versions to get around that.

So it WILL work with Streets and Trips 2004?
What 15s delay do you speak of?

MS used to have to put in a 15s tracking delay for legal reasons. With 2004, that delay no longer exists.
Yes it works with ST 04. Just verified. But you need to install the serial driver that is on the SA disc.
It's in [drive letter]:\Util\Earthmate Companion Files\Util\Driver\HidComInst.exe

Yay, got it working with Streets and Trips 2004! I now can be assured that my laptop knows where I am.
Now I just miss how Street Atlas would show the little arrow and how it would record your position as you went along. That and how it would show speed... bleh.
I'll get a whole other GPS and navigation software in the future

I bought a Holux GM210 and Iguidance as a package a month or so ago. The receiver is sweet - but I think Iguidance sucks the fat one. It interfaced just fine with the GPS receiver, but its cludgy, lacks features, and is just plain ugly. Street atlas has a lot more going for it, even if it doesn't know where the hell the roads really are. At least I can find the nearest ATM under the lake.

Anyone wants to try out Iguidance, let me know. You can at least try it before spending $120.
