just ordered the trial version

If it's a full version but just time limited. That means it can be easily cracked
*devious smile*

not that i would ever do anything like that :-)

Any updates on Destinator v3 maps with v2 SDK? I ordered the trial CD weeks ago, and haven't heard a thing!

C!

Hey guys, I got my destinator 3 trial about a week ago. I've been testing it out, but seeing as I don't have a VGA screen yet - i've been having to test it on my old, crappy, slow laptop. Destinator takes years to load on a old school Pentium 266MMX with only 64mb or RAM.

Mind you, it loads nicely on my P2 350 (which is going to be my carpc)

There are some problems when you use it with the V2 SDK.

The maps load fine, they track fine, and they're pretty good in terms of the areas included in the maps (alot of new estates in my area, these maps have them there )

Routing doesn't work nicely, if you do a search for a street, it either crashes or points you to a completely different area, however searches for suburbs work - so say you want to go to Glenferrie Rd. in Hawthorn, you can search for Hawthorn -then find glenferrie road manually and set the destination by clicking on the map, and it routes perfectly.

You can't tell it to avoid Toll roads

The graphics/symbols are from the american version - so U-Turn symbols point to the left, instead of the right

Points of interest don't work but apprantly, red light/speed cameras are included in the POI database!!

There may be more problems, but i haven't run into much yet.

Final Verdict: It works good, if you can be bothered finding out where you need to go before hand. I can't wait for a v3 SDK to be released, it should be awesome.

Are the Sensis maps useable?
http://www.sensis.com.au/whereis/index.php

I would imagine they are probably the best available... its just whether they actually work with a PC rather than a standard headunit

Right. I have been looking at GPS software for a CarPC: OziExplorer looks a little homebrew to me, and Fugawi looks OK, but not great.

Has anyone here got CoPilot 7? If so, what's it like?

Cheers,
Lucien.
