GPS - How do you input your destination? (particularly iGuidance users)

For those of you who run GPS on your system ... how do you go about inputing your destination into your GPS software? Do you use your keyboards? on-screen keyboard? voice commands?

I'm interested in if and how well voice commands work as I'd like to be able to tell my system where i want to go without having to type anything.

if you GPS software doesn't support voice commands natively ... is anyone using third party applications for this?

i'm pretty sure i'll be getting iGuidance ... so i'm particularly interested in anyone who uses that package.

ok, so no one inputs their destination? be it via voice or keyboard?

so i guess the software just knows where you want to go and shows you how to get there? amazing.

I'm not sure yet, still not quite done with my setup. For testing, I've used small usb keyboard, and touchscreen as well. I wish you could increase the OSD of routis (similar to iGuidance right?)... all the little dialog boxes are too tiny on the lilliput 7" at 800x600, and at 640x480... not sure if I want to run that low, some other screens and menus are too big to see all of! (windvd, creative accessories, etc).

What 3rd party voice rec thing were you looking at? I'd be interested in knowing more. I haven't used one of those programs for about 2 years, so maybe they are better now?

It would be nice if the computer only listened to you after a "keyword", and then only for around 10-15 seconds.

On a side note, is any GPS software coming out or an upgrade to the navtech stuff, where you can input an area code & phone number, and it will bring up an address? (I think business use, this could be useful, and quicker to input).

thanks for the reply.

from what i understand routis and iGuidance are the same software with a slightly different front end?

I wasn't sure if I'd use a 3rd party VR package or if some GPS software would do it natively. I suspect I'd just try the popular ones like Naturally Speaking and whatnot. I agree it'd only be useful if it listened after a given keyword. I don't want it typing out everything I say :-)

I used Naturally Speaking about 6 months ago and it was pretty good. It took forever to go through the setup and get it tuned to your voice ... but after that it seemed like it did a good job of understanding.
