I think the usb not waking from hibernation is a microsoft usb driver issue. Cause I get the same with using usb audio devices. Unless the USB mouse GPS uses it's own vendor drivers instead of the microsoft usb one... you're probably gonna keep seeing this issue until Microsoft resolves it.

People that are using streets and trips and the delorme gps units what do you think about it? I have street atlas 2003 and think it sucks. Some of the street names do not appear unless you scroll down a couple of blocks which I think is a pain in the ***. I'm hearing alot of good things about iguidence. Is anyone familar with it? Is it worth the price?

Hey all.....I am an installer for GPS systems here in NJ......What you need to be as accurate as possible is an external antenna magnetic mount for your car.....That would be the best and a 12 channel WAAS enabled receiver.....All those usb through the glass receivers suk.....They sell kits for this......I would try to get at least a 8-12 channel GPS receiver.....And make sure it is waas enabled all this will ensure you are being tracked at 10 foot radius......Hope this helps...Also Street atlas has been working awsomely with my 12 channel gps external antenna magnetic roof mount......It always "Snaps to road" even thought it isn't an included feature....Because I am being tracked at 10 foot radius.

The usb Earthmate is a 12 channel WAAS enabled receiver even though everyone here keeps saying it's no good. And "through the glass" should have no effect on the signal as long as you have an otherwise unobstructed view of the sky. Glass or plastic won't affect the signal, only metal. An external roof mount antenna is better only because that is the highest point of the car.

And you still need to be receiving the correction signals from one of the two WAAS satellites to get the increased accuracy. Since these satellites are geostationary (over the equator), they may be blocked if you don't have a clear view of the horizon. WAAS corrections are only available for North America.

It is true through the glass "Should" have no effect but I personally have proven that theory completely wrong several times.....Most new cars have uv stuff built right into the glass and you don't even know it.....It is true because my EZpass will not work through the glass....so I had to order the license plate mounted one....Back to gps.....I had a through the glass 12 channel gps receiver and it was getting 5-6 satellites in an open field.....when I put it on the roof or out the window it got the full 12 ....so it is in my professional opinion that most cars will create a problem with any through the glass products due to plastisizers and or uv materials & safety glass obstructing most of the signal.......So for the same price get a roof mounted one......

This USB GPS has never once failed to come out of hibernation mode on me. It uses its own USB to serial drivers.
