I have used autoroute in norway, it covers the whole country but the roads are not very detailed. Route 66 is detailed but only cover oslo. Not sure about destinator 3 or Alturion 5 pro, I do have them on my PDA , I can check it for you. The laptop version should be the same in map details.
The GPS I used when I was there is made by Sony (ETAK GPS1) not good at all in norway. I think the satellite signals are weaker there compared to UK. I have noticed you got alot of tunnels there so what you really need is a sensitive receiver and can lock on quickly. I got lost because of my crappy GPS, when I came out of the tunnel theres so many road to turn and didnt know which one to take. It take something like 3 mins before it lock again
Anyway it is worth buying a good quality GPS. Now Im using a garmin GPS16 and it stay lock inside a 3/4 mile tunnel and can relock in a few seconds. I also have tried TomTom PDA GPS bluetooth and some others GPS, they are not that good at all compared to garmins.
Buy the most sensitve and accurate GPS you can afford, Ill go garmin anytime
Hope that helps.

Varsaagod hehe
I was in oslo most of the time, fredrikstadt and some places...met up with friends and some internet friends Many interesting places but man it was cold...and EXPENSIVE.
I started to use autoroute but theres not enough details to drive properly from sandefjord to oslo, route 66 say im on the sea I noticed the GPS keep jumping to different places, this never happen to me in UK. I thought I can drive from oslo to tromso in 1 day...I chickened out when I see the snow and GPS playing up But still, the good old GPS saved my life though
Check the specifications at :
http://www.garmin.com/oem/
Garmins seems to be the only company that show the sensitivity and the rest are kinda shy.

hi there
i am in DK, and i am using a dansih developed GPS program called NaviCar produced by a company call SimaTech ( www.simatech.dk ).
this program covers europe, map cover and is tailermade for 7" touchscreen .....
as far as i know the voice guidenes can be ether danish or in english.....
it is really a cool program, have got a 14day test version covering denmark - and i must say that it is really perfect for the CARPC GPS....
hope that this can be a solution for you guy's

I bought a usb receiver from cartft.com in germany. So far I have only tested it with my laptop a few km. The accuracy seems good enough to show the correct road even in residential areas. I live in trondheim. If you like, I can check what make the receiver is.
Autoroute 2004 was really bad, with just the main roads. I think I'll go for mapstore. The interface is not perfectly suited for car navigation, but the maps are great, even small roads of 100-200m are marked with names. Still working on software-testing...

Mapstore as made by michelin? I got the mapsonic europe on my PDA, not so sure whats the difference I think mapstore is for laptop and mapsonic is for PDA They do come as one package though.
I have tested the mapsonic (PDA) around london to heathrow airport. The routing is a bit messy and at one time asked me to go on the wrong side of the road...asking me to go the wrong way in the roundabout. The voice guidance is not very clear...it sometimes say turn slightly left when you are supposed to be turning sharp left. It lack many little feature but useful such as night driving. No 3D view either
The reroute is very fast...thats a plus point for sure. The map look very nice as well making it a good program for planning routes. The scrolling and zooming is fast. It is running stable on my PDA with no problem. The seach is also fast...The software is very fast overall. The destination and arrival selection are very easy to use. The map does rotate while driving.
I also heard if your GPS is not so accurate the software then think you are on the other road running parallel to where you are, the software will then reroute. But over all I think it is a good software as long as you are aware of its fault while driving
The laptop version seems good, but I dont have time to test it out yet. Not sure about norway map coverage.

Hi Guys,
You should have a look at Infomap Navigator Europe as it covers the whole of Scandanavia. It's not perfect but at £50 it is exceptional value for money. Gives visual and audible driving directions, recalcs the route if you go off-route, rotates the map in direction of travel. Here's a couple of screenshots at the maximum zoom. If there is a particular town you'd like to see a screenshot of, let me know.

Comes with English, Czech, Italian and Danish voice navigation but if you've got the time or the energy you can record your own as they're only .wav files.

I'm always up for a challenge. Couldn't find Åmli and the only Aust-Agder I could find is in Arendal. Is that the right one?

Oh well, I gave it a shot! It describes Aust-Agder as a Fylke, didn't mean a lot to me! Of course as most companies licence their maps from Tele-Atlas they'll all have the same limitations.
