As far as I know, SAT2004 does NOT give voice directions. I have a copy of it that a friend let me borrow, but never installed it because i got my copy of Routis 2004. I HIGHLY recommend Routis 2004 or Destinator 3. These seem to be most people's favorites.
Routis 2004 does give voice commands and it has an intelligent setup, albeit simple.

Routis gives the basic directions you would expect from say mapquest or yahoo maps. Good thing about it is that you can reroute yourself, or it will do this if you miss a turn automatically. Also, it supports rerouting based on what you tell it. For example, if you tell it to avoid Main St., it will do so.
I don't think SAT2004 has this option.

Did you not ask about CoPilot 2003 because of the price? Because it does everything listed here so far.

Copilot 2003 rocks. It does have a robotic voice but you stop noticing it right away. I'll probably keep using copilot as my gps software.

How much can I expect to pay for Routis 2003? I have an ancient copy of Streets and Trips, but all of the maps are starting to get out of date. And will Routis work with serial GPS?

Routis 2004 is only $90. That really isn't that much money when you think about it for good GPS software.

And yes, it will work with serial gps. All USB gps units use a fake serial port AFAIK.

Very well said Samc....it does rock, and I thought routis was better from all the talk on these boards, but when i installed it, boy was I dissapointed! Copilot is 100 million times better. Only drawback is the computer voice and the lack of 3D maps. If price is not an issue get copilot. routis might be worth $90, but not for me.
