Pocket PC and Laptop GPS Software
Are there any GPS software packages that work with both Pocket PCs and Laptops? Right now I using my laptop with Mappoint 2004 which works fine for now. I was going to buy the Copilot 7 but I might get myself a PDA in the near future. I just would like to use the same software package for both my laptop and PDA.
Thanks in Advance

I have a Delorme USB Earthmate, Delou's website says it doesn't work with Routis 2004. I know that some guys have gotten this to work but I just want to make sure before I buy.

I bought a serial cable for my USB Earthmate from Delorme and it works perfectly. It's not free, but it did solve my problem.

I'm using Teletype GPS. This software works on certain PDA's and laptops. There site is "www.teletype.com/pages/gps.html" They also offer a software developers kit. It's working well for me at the time.

Hmmmm... a little expensive. $139.00 plus $95.00 just for the US Street maps?

I bought mine in 2002. It came with a USB GPS mouse and the software with US maps, I paid 195.75 then. I still use this over StreetFinder, although I have both loaded on the system

the sites work. you dont need the serial connection for routis and earthmate, it works wonderfully well.
when we were running XP and routis, it was rediculous to the point if we unplugged the unit, then plugged it back in, windows would uninstall the delorme driver and reinstall the generic windows driver . the driver is definitely key.
um, i htink that was the only major issue, between the two. also for windows 2000, I installed the driver, and went under control panel, the driver was installed. crashed hte machine. get back into windows, and went to the device manager and FROM THERE i reinstalled the driver, choosing the SAME driver that i had picked previously. worked like a champ.
windows XP is wierd, sometimes the USB device is a HID, sometimes its under ports, with the serial and parrallel ports, and sometimes it was under USB with the hub. wierd.
doesnt matter, it works on this laptop.

delmore is almost as wierd. you have to MANUALLY install the drivers to do USB to serial. after that, all is good!
just got my Delmore bluetooth cradle for mine...its busy charging and will try out on my Dell Axim X30 and Compaq Tablet PC 1100 (both owned by my workplace, but used by me exclusively:-P )

oh that reminds me, definitely install the serial drivers, but you dont need the adapter. its kinda wierd. I had to install the serial driver, but it works using a USB port. no xport required for me
