GPS with simultaneous music

This is probably and dumb question but I was wondering if you can listen music while using your GPS at the same time with your carputer.

Does it depend on the software you're using? If so which one can do it (e.g. Frodoplayer, Mediacar, Media Engine, etc.)

I use FrodoPlayer and routis 2004 all the time. works great.
I can even hear the voice navigation telling me when to turn while the music plays.

computer = Multi-tasking

You don't have to use any special programs. You can just use winamp to play music on the background while using mappoint or any gps software.

Mediacar and any of these carputer softwares also allow you to play music while performing other embeded tasks.

I use iGuidance (same as routis) and Media Engine and they work together fine, music and vioce dirrections. You even get a nice overlay of the music controls in the corner while using the GSP software. You'll want to use Frodo's LMF.exe to resolve a little bug with the combo. There is also a nice little utility that someone here on the boards wrote to autoclick the nag screen about driving safe.

New Utility

Frodo made a new one that launches and clicks the warning screen in one executable. It is not dependent on resolution or font size. RoutisLauncher

I have Routis and Media Car and no problems using them both at the same time. Occasionally it hangs for a sec if it's accessing a large # of POIs.

But it plays and navigates at the same time, no problem. Routis also lowers the music volume slightly so voice prompts can be heard. Pretty slick.

I'm just trying to figure out how I can make Routis play over a speaker when listening to the regular radio.

Unless you use Media Engine, then you need to use LMF and Routis launcher in combination.

I want to use RoutisLauncher in MediaCar and I'm having a real brain fart with this configuration. I got lmf going in my apps to run XMpcr but the instructions there were pretty specific for apps. As I understand it, I'll have MC running lmf, which runs routislauncher which runs routis.

Where do I put the folder/instance of lmf if using with routislauncher (which in turn will point to routis.exe). Whew! Can anyone simplify this with a step by step?

Autotouch will let you do both, and it'll pause the music to tell you the voice navigation...

Just a heads-up for those of you on the cheap, the old VIA M5000 doesn't have enough power to do MP3 and run GPS at the same time. It was really painful. The mp3's stuttered every time the screen refreshed.

MII-10000, now that works great!
