I emailed Delou on Sunday about when Routis v2 would be out and how much for an upgrade. It's Thursday and still no response.

Here's what I got back from Delou when I asked about the new version of Routis back on June 2.

Quote:
Hi Rick.

Unfortunately, we do not have an ETA for the new Routis version yet,
but we hope to release it in about 2-4 weeks. If you are not in a hurry,
we recommend waiting for the new version. Either way, we will also release
upgrade kits for Routis users at a very discounted price (less than $20
for sure)

Kind regards,
The Deluo Team

Looks like they're a little behind schedule.

it seems like we are not the only ones excited about this software:

http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/t...TOPIC_ID=12150

just went and bought my own from the manufacturer. tried some googling to see their resellers, and nobody big like CDW, NewEgg.com, etc....just a bunch of small companies.

and no, i will not give my software to pirate. these guys are small and trying to make a living, unlike the bigger companies which i could care less.

I think these companies that sell GPS software should offer trials.
I really dont want to shell out 100 bucks or more for a piece of software i have never tried. like i said in my other thread youd never buy a car without test driving it first.

I can *half* agree with this. but when you are a small company, and its easy to get around the "trial" security either by sharing reg codes, .exe hex hacks, or registry hacks, you will loose some $$ and profit. it is just way easier for them to release only by sale. the larger companies can afford to do trials, realizing not everyone will legally use their software.

you can really consider some of the screenshots of actual users using it to be your trial

i paid for mine since it *almost* looks like what you get when you rent a car with GPS from Hertz. Routis, Destinator, and MapPoint are not to that point yet. the other selling point for me is that I can install it both on my PDA *AND* laptop *AND* look like almost the same app on two different platforms. you can only do that with routis, none of the others unless you wish to cough up more $$

if need be, I *could* set it up in my car, and record it giving me directions into a small DivX and put it up on your guy's hub. :-P I won't have my softwrae till later next week though since i ordered it last night.

Regarding free trials, I think one concern many have, including myself, is the accuracy/completeness of roads in MY area.

Which obviously can only really be done on a person to person basis.

you guys suck, I was all about nabbing the software, and I still beleive $100 is WAY too much for the software. especailly after $100 for streetatlas and the delorm unit.

but now im convinced that I really need to buy it, that supporting the company is more important than going out to a couple nice restorants for a month.

man, $100 is so much for software I use as seldom as I would.....

damn you, morality and ethics!

any brick and mortar stores that sell it? or am I stuck buying online?
