Rand McNally GPS Unit Not Working Right

I have a Rand McNally serial GPS unit connected to a Keyspan USB adapter running Pocke Nav

It is behaving very wierd. It appears to be behind actual tracking of roads when I approach, and the speed is significantly delayed. What is really odd is sometimes the map will look like I am flying over off road areas, or it will say I am on a completely different road while driving.

What could be causing this, and what settings should I double check?

Which Keyspan serial to USB adapter are you using?
