Question Waterproof Royaltek GPS?

I have the Royaltek Sapphire GPS mouse ( http://www.royaltek.com/proditem.asp?hotitem=yes&hid=1 )
and have a question their manual or site does not seem to answer.
I currently have problems on the dash getting/holding a loc, but on the roof it picks up very fast and works great.
Does anyone know if I can safely perma-mount this unit on the roof?
Thanks!

Do a search for water/weather proof and GPS. There is something out there that you can dip your gsp device into and it becomes water tight. It has been done, so don't loose faith.

To add some info to my post-
The solution was to move it to the back of the GMC - the rear left panel where the car jack / etc sits, makes it work perfectly - 5 sats = good enough. (This is a 1998 GMC Jimmy)
Not sure I want to chance the unit after reading the posts you suggested. South Dakota is not known for maintaining a steady temp range for more than 15-20 minutes. :P
Thanks for the info, I||1, I will keep that in mind.
Appreciated!
