GPS Mouse dead??

I have a BU-303 (ebay mouse) and it seems to be having problems. I bought it a few months ago and it's been working great, but a few days ago I was getting GPS info, then it died. No warning, nothing. Now, when I start up cold, it will work for about 2-3 mins then it will stop. The light will light up bright at first then is dimly lit. It was writing sentences then stopped suddenly. I tried on both my car pc and my laptop and had the same results. This was mounted on the trunk for a few days and did go thru a rainstorm, although nothing major. Anybody know what's wrong?

Thanks.

If it got wet then that's most likely the source of your problem. Take it apart if you can and put a hair dryer to it. See if that works. It may come back to life. Good luck.

I opened it up and found what appeared to be rust or something like that, so it is possible water found it's way inside. It was a touch wet in there, and I dried it out, but I'm still having the same problem.

Does anybody know what the warranty information is for these things? Or do I just have to bite the bullet?

**update**

It lives again!!! I opened it up two times and tried drying it out as best as I could. Well, I thought it was hopeless and I was going to be ordering a new one. Well, last night I had my carPC out for some repairs and new program installs. I decided to plug my GPS mouse in again... the darn thing works!! I'm still a little weary, but as best as I can tell, it's working fine. It showed on Routis where I am and everything. Stranger things have happened.

Glad to hear it's back working for you. I would get some CorrosionX or Boeshield T-9 and spray it down before the corrosion gets worse. Spray it and let it dry before putting it back together. Then you should be fine.

Jeremy- Thanks for the suggestion, I'll go out and get some, but I think I'm going to try to find a place that is dry. Or perhaps use some sort of water proofing like I've read in a few threads here.

KickerCivic- The only time the mouse got wet was when I washed it and forgot it was on there. The mouse was sitting on my deck lid which is almost perfectly horizontal, so water may have had time to set and pool up. That was the best place to get a lock.
