Lightbulb Destinator 2 SDK tips for composite screens and audio tips

Ok i have a 7" LCD that uses composite and of course mp3 and videos are great but when the GPS comes into ply its just way to small to use basiclly.

So what i did was do alot of testing in the car to make the LCD read Destinator on the LCD easily

So what i did was go to C:\PowerLOC\Destinator\Common\Interface\Destinator .Inf and open up the file in notepad

Now move down to neer the end of the file and u will see
::F,Tahoma,24,0

I changed it to ::F,Arial,35,0
Now this the text size of the text in the GPS setting windows so u can see what comport etc you are selecting. It also changed the text in the settings window and the text on the bottom right showing how many sattelites there are.

now right at the start of the file u will see

SIZE=24

change it to 35 or the setting you best want.
This changed the size of most items mostly the button sizes

Now under that you will see these
::T,ABOUT,200,LF,,,24,About
::T,ADDRESS_BOOK,200,LF,,,24,Favourites

thats the size of the text for the buttons like about favourites etc

change the 24 to 35 or a size that suits you
Also note that cause im in australia this was annoying to me:

::T,CITY_STREET,200,LF,,,24,City->Street

Now in australia we dont call it City so i changed it to

::T,CITY_STREET,200,LF,,,24,Suburb->Street

same with
::T,STREET_ZIP_CODE,200,LF,,,24,St.->Zip
We call the Zip code postcode in australia so i changed it to:
::T,STREET_ZIP_CODE,200,LF,,,24,St.->P. Code

makes sense

Now scroll down till u see something like this:
//:,240,320,639
:,640,420,640
now i changed the last line to 640 instead of 639

This means at 640 the onscreen keyboard will showup when u search for a street.

Now onto the Sound for destinator

Some people say they can't hear the voice directions over the mp3's play sometimes.

Well what i do is open up the Sound recorder in Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment

and i open up the wave files from destinator then i just click the effects button then click increase volume by 25% till you think your happy with it then save it.

Now you can view and hear destinator perfectly

Only problem is the map you cant change the text size of the citys/suburbs but you dont need to bother about it cause i use 3d mode a bit but i also use normal mode and if u wanna know what street your on click the info button for it to tell u as he text is now readable for u

I hope this helps some people till the D3 sdk gets sorted out
Also you could do what iv done and actually changed the button bmp files to match the media car skin

Im also working on a nice media car skin that looks good on a composite LCD as i dont want to pay $500 for a lilput

Hope this helps some of you guys who are stuck with destinator till we get a new version and i hope it helps make life easier for guys without a VGA screen like me

Thanks! I thought i was the only one who couldnt afford a VGA touch screen! And either way, the bigger the text the better anyway - you dont want to have to concentrate to read the text while driving!!!

Can't wait to try this out

You can make it all look great the only problem on a composite LCD after your edit it to how u like it the only problem y have on the LCD is not readin what street you are in and clicking the info button will tell you thats the only problem the text on the maps is actually on the map so u can't change the size i dont think.

Im just glad i help atleast 1 person

You try to use the buttons that I have done me for D2 SDK .

I had drawn ago them a few months to use with the skin of Mediacar " Brusheed metal" and they are liked a lot.

You replace the original file in C:\Powerloc\Destinator\Common\Interface with my file.

You make to know if you like

Its OK also your buttons, however' as they are mine they have a lot of effect 3D inthe Dest2 menu.

Your buttons seem proper for the new alpha version of Dest3 SDK.

We hope that there am also soon an update with the active buttons in the menu of Dest3

Nah im sure someone else can make better buttons for the new D3 SDK i just waiting for a respone i want it so bad hehe

Thoese buttons are from when i was making my own frontend as i dont need the DVD player and also i was addin a special button so if a cop ask me to play divx from the main menu it will say you are not allowed to watch video files while the engine is on just to be safe

but i ran into a snag with winamp playlist and directorys so im just using media car now.

Im also gonna add SCANLINES to the orignal media car skin to see if it helps it look better on the LCD it should
