Rikaline 6010 receiver

first off. wow. this is such a great unit.

i havent done any extensive testing on it but so far ive gotten locks with no problems. right now the receiver is sitting on my rear dash underneath the window in my 96 accord. it gets usually 6/8 or 7/10 satellites. it's never been below 3/8 and infact i havent seen it that low since i first installed it about a week ago. today was the first day it was cloudy (slight rain) and guess what.. 6/9 satellites. i am very pleased with this unit. it actually seems to be a little more accurate than the bu-303 was. when i go back out to get some lunch in a half hour ill test to make sure its still getting a good lock. it's still very cloudy out.

this is the link..

i'll let you guys know if i do happen to come across any problems but so far so good.

Keep us informed on how things go with this receiver. Also let us know how it compares to the bu-303 as you test it more. I still have to buy a receiver and I want to look at all the option and see which would be the best for me.

well, if you remember from the long island meet, my gps wasnt working. somehow the bu-303 broke or something i guess...or the driver was bad. either way, they use the same driver so i just installed the one that came with the rikaline. i could probably plug in the bu-303 and see if it works and if not chuck it, otherwise ill do some testing.

I just bought this GPS too. It's been in my truck for 4 days. At first I wan't getting too good of lock but it was because of the position. I get a lock almost instantly coming out of hibernation. This GPS also has WAAS. I bought mine direct from a seller who was selling on eBay. He sold it to me for $59.95 shipped. His email address is:

info(AT)immusyscorp.com

The only problem I have (and I believe it is a software / hibernation problem) is that upon coming out of hibernation Routis says it can't communicate w/ my gps. I simply go up and select the com port and it instantly communicates with it again.

i have no problems coming out of hibernation with this unit. yesterday i had iguidance take me to taco bell. the iguidance POIs are about 200 feet off from where the building really is, but otherwise its ok.
anyways, i turned the computer on and started driving instantly and noticed i didnt have a lock. (the sky was cloudy gray). so i stopped the car for 15 seconds and then got 4/10 satellites. it was about 4 miles to taco bell and the whole time i had 5-7/10. then i got to the parking lot, stopped, and got 8/10. no clear view of the sky at all.

same thing this morning, a little rain and 5/10 satellites no problem.

im very happy with this unit. i'll plug the bu-303 back in later today maybe and see what happens.

I do not have any experience with the 303 but I bought the 6010 about 3 weeks ago and I have to admit that I am pretty impressed. It locks in less than a second and I have not lost signal with it at all since installing it. Even when my XM Radio may have lost signal the 6010 continues to work.

I did nothing special when installing, stuck it on the roof of my truck, ran the wire through my brakelight then into the computer, that was it!

nah, the bu-303 died somehow. my results are not very scientific therefor. i would have to believe that the rikaline 6010 is sufficient enough simply on the fact that it sits under my back window and gets a lock in the time it takes to come out of hibernation. plus it gets a lock in rainy/highly cloudy weather. hope that helps somewhat.

Doesn't the Rikaline uses XTRAC? I heard it's great in the city canyon, but would experience major lag out in the wide open sky.

I really want to want for the XTRAC2 version as I heard it fixes that problem. Any info on that?

I have a Rayming T-200 and I also recently bought a Rikaline 6010 from ebay. I bought it mostly because it's water proof. I have noticed that it performs as well as the Rayming unit. I'm extremely impressed with the performance of both units. The 6010 I bought came with a ps2 connector and a USB adapter cable.

are you using it mostly in the city and wooded areas? You know, areas where a normal gps wouldn't be able to lock onto a good signal. From my understanding the XTRAC had a major lag problem with perfect sky and XTRAC2 supposed to fixed that. I really wanted to buy the Rikaline, but afraid of this issue... Rikaline didn't seem to release a XTRAC2 version of a GPS mouse. They released one for BT and CF.

How much did you pay for your Rikaline?

I use my Rikaline in mostly city areas.. I have absolutely no problems with this GPS. It locks fast and I usually never have less then 4 sats.

Read my post above to get it for $60 if that dude still has them.

Nevermind what I said about xtrac. I just check on the auction and it is the original version, and not the x5 version. my posts does not apply to this version.

sorry guys.

I just got my Rikaline 6010 yesturday and it works like a champ with iGuideance... Havn't tried it with any other software. Took about 5 seconds to lock onto 9 satellites once I fired up iGuideance. The updates were fast and seems to be very accurate.

I've had the 6010 for a few weeks now. It is behind my instrument cluster inside my dash. It locks on in about 2 seconds and hasn't cut out at all for me. It's a great unit so far.
