how long for a lock?

HI,

Just a quick question,
from start of the pc, how long does it take to get a lock on the GPS?
you experience please....

Totally depends on the location of the receiver and which receiver you got. I have the Rikaline GPS 6010 USB and it's placed on my dash in the right corner. I get a lock almost instantly upon coming out of hibernation.

I have the eBay mouse, and that locks immediately too (back up and locked before computer has resumed), EXCEPT if I parked in a parking garage so it can't see the sky when it starts... In that case it goes into the slower acquisition modes and will usually take at least 30 seconds to acquire lock after I come out from under the concrete. YMMV

I use the Garmin GPS25-LVS engine. Mine locks immediately except for when after my car is parked in a parking garage. Then it will take about 20-30 sec. By the time I reach the cul-de-sac's exit (about 2 houses down) my routis will already giving me directions.
