what do i need to do to get the garmin 16 to work

i was looking at the hvx version here

just plug it in to the modem jack??? cant be that easy

Dude.., that 'here' you had has a pdf file. That pdf file has a wiring pinout for serial connection. Just follow the direction.

Yep. What he said. Use the pinout diagram to wire up a serial connector and plug it into the serial port on your carputer. You'll be rockin in no time.
