About to buy GPS unit/software

I'm trying to make my final decision on what to buy for a GPS solution. So is it final, for sure, definitely possible to use Destinator 3 on PC?
Is it only possible using the mod mention in the other thread, or does it also work out of the box?
Does it work well with the BU-303?

Also, anybody know of any good sources for this software/hardware in Canada?

Thanks for the help.

I can confirm that I am using D3
(as customised by NinjaMonkey et al on this forum)
and I am using a BU-303 as the receiver.

I am using the UK maps but I assume that the maps are available for Canada?

Hope that helps

Welcome to my current nightmare

I am in the process of doing the screen mount at the moment.

The Xenarc is larger than 2 DIN, just enough to be a PITA.
I took the decision to purchase a second centre console from the breakers, good move.
I removed to original centre console the weekend and had a play.

First thing I noticed was that if you placed the screen in the same plane as the angle of the centre console, i.e. just laid the screen on the console, you got a wonderful reflection of the rear screen and all the glare that comes with that. So that rules that out.

Bottom line, what I came up with was to sit the top of the screen on the bar at the top of the console, just below the centre vents, and the bottom inside the console.
That is possibly hard to visualise, I'll try and get a picture up later.

This solves the glare issue as the 'view' is now of the rear storage, so no glare.

I will need to sort out how to make it look good.
I do not particularly want to bond the screen casing into the console in case I need to remove it for warranty issues etc.

So that link is not a lot of good.

Are you fitting in an MR2 or some other Toyota?

There are a number of threads on here discussing the metits of the Lilliput and comparing it to the Xenarc.
TBH, I ended up going for the Xenarc - build quality sounds as if it is better and it is guaranteed for longer.

but it's your call. Have a read and make up your own mind.

If you look for GPS reciver, I and some of my friends are using Holux 210, Very good reciver, USB, and no problems. Holux 210 works good with D3.1
