Speedcam???

What is a speedcam? And people talk about alerts...
Dont get it? Some help please??

Speedcam = Speed Camera = things that flash you and give you a fine if you're going faster than the posted speed limit.

Used in many countries (well, the UK at least) as a revenue generator, and an excuse to put less police on the roads, as well as using speed as a scapegoat to accidents, the majority of which aren't caused directly by speeding, in most of which speed isn't even a minor factor, but are mainly due to people who got their licence in a box of cornflakes that morning.

We like to be alerted of them so that we don't get our picture taken, because it just adds to the rediculous statistic and propoganda of "we have caught xx people speeding so the world is a safer place and we need more cameras to catch more people" and we really can't be bothered with paying the fine that they give us, and in the UK at least, the extra it puts on our insurance (if we even bother paying it, it's often cheaper to not have insurance and get caught and pay the fine than actually pay for a year's insurance - i don't condone this by the way)

For people lucky enough not to have these in their country yet, they are more commonly known as a Speed Cameras/Traps...

These are automated roadside units using Radar, contacts in the road, or laser to get an accurate measure of your speed then take a couple of pictures of you, or number plate recognition units such as SPECS that measure how long it takes you to travel a set distance to determine speed.

There are many types though; GATSO, TRUVELO, SPECS etc.

Still dont get it!!!A speed camera is used by the police for people who drives to fast. I know, we have here in Denmark. But a speedcamera in Destinater... to control what? Dont you hav e a speedometer?
