Destinator 3 UK maps
Did anyone else notice that the UK and Ireland maps downloaded from Miomaps are missing all the town names in Scotland

Yeah they have the wrong names for loads of roads too, and a useless POI database. Only thing they're useful for is proving it works before shelling out for the PPC Destinator (75 quid!)

Are the miomaps as good or worse/better than the UK full destinator 3's ones that you get when you buy the original ppc software?

Hi
I was using the UK map from Miomaps and I was also really frustrated about the Scottish place names, but after reading this thread switched to the original ones.
However, now when I approach a roundabout instead of getting the usual "continue driving around the circle" directions I get - "Turn Right followed by Turn Left" or other variations, as if it wasn't actually a roundabout. Even though looking at the map it clearly is.
Any ideas? Have I done something wrong? Is this happening with anyone else? Or do you think my maps are corrupt..?
BTW I'm testing in and around Fife and Edinburgh, no roundabouts worked...
Thanks
David

I'm running the proper D3 maps and also the D3 uk voice pack that comes with D3 for the pocket pc, I dont have any problems with roundabouts at all. I would suggest also moving the voice pack over from the PDA version to see if the helps.
cheers

Hi
I gave that a try but it's still doing the same thing. What's the version number of the map you're using? Mine is 2003.Q2.2071, maybe I'm using a bad map...
Thanks

Don't forget that DestinatorVoiceManeuvers.inf, or whatever it's called, also tells it which wav file to use!
Edit: Although, that should come with the voice pack....Did you swap to the new voice pack in settings?

I dont think it's anything to do with the voice files...
This is the manoeuvre list from my house to the local ASDA using the Miomap one:
And here's what happens with the one's from the destinator CD (exact same route - including roundabouts)
The 2D and 3D maps on screen are identical - both include roundabouts
Any ideas?

Bump!
Hi Again,
So is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? The Miomap ones are crap for placenames and POIs but at least roundabouts work. The original Destinator 3 ones have accurate placenames and road names but wont navigate roundabouts correctly.
I have tried completely reinstalling everyting (and have used all the original files from the CD - including voice files)
Is there anyone out there using the Destinator UK maps with success? If so what is their version number?
Any help appreciated..
David

This is a known problem... http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/modules.p...1d743dd4728b67
Unfortunately it's been fixed in the pocket pc version (doubtful the SDK will see any changes any time soon)
Seeing as the MIO maps work...I'm thinking you can make a decent map from both...
Try making a new folder and copying the following files from the MIO uk map
WCE_A.POI
WCE_A.MAP
WCE_A.TAB
then copy the following from the PPC UK map
WCE_A.DAT
WCE_b1.DAT
WCE_b2.DAT
Let me know how you get on
