Keyhole Mapping Product

Has anyone seen this product from Google? It combines satellite image data with street and POI data to produce maps. It also allows layers of data to be added in the 'pro' version of the product to display just about any geographically based information available.

Unfortunately, it requires access to the net to download the images from the server and doesn't have a GPS input, but one can always hope....

Plus, the way it flies and zooms in and out from place to place is flat out cool!

If they had something like this along with the more sophisticated routing and voice functions of the major GPS mapping products, I think they'd find quite a market...

Does anyone know if the usual suspects like D3, Streets & Trips, Routis, etc. have a vision for a product like this?

The website for a 7 day trial is Keyhole

Its pretty cool software that has been out for a few years. Google recently bought them. So the idea is Google should be adding some new features...

Maps aren't too up to date in most places and the sheer size of a product using imaging like that would span 5 dvd's.

When they were a standalone software company - they charged $300 for their software. It's cool for about 5 minutes than you're bored.

i emailed they a few weeks ago asking when and if they were going to add gps support. No reply yet. If you dig around on there site is says it can work with gps but most likely not out of the box. This would be cool and very usefull to use in the car. I think Street Atlas supports overlays, i wonder if you could just overlay these images.

Search for worldwind...made by NASA...a lot of need crap on it, and free.

But like you already noticed, you need a broadband connection to get the maps.
