Real-time Traffic Info

I haven't been involved in this hobby in years, but I saw something that caught my attention. The new Acura RL has a pretty sweet toy in it. It's a Navteq map system that displays real-time traffic information that it picks up from the XM sattellite reciever.

Pioneer is making an aftermarket solution that uses the same system.

Is anyone working on a traffic solution for a PC based GPS program? There's tons of traffic data that can be found online, like sigalert.com for Los Angeles. I emailed XM and asked if there would be PC based systems, and they said no (I didn't yet realize their PC software has been discontinued).

Were working on one for AIMEE that will gather RDS-TMC (Radio Data System-Traffic Message Channel) traffic info from the RAC, as far as i know this will be uk coverage only, as we paln to support as many countries as possible with AIMEE, if you have any suggestions for traffic alerts please let us know

hmm if anyone is interested in trying to program for this you may want to incorporate some of the "konfabulator" type traffic cam tools.

we would display this in our own format but the way it gathers the info could prove useful
