Unhappy Now getting problems with my BU-303

Hi Guys...

OK just about finished my VanPC install...

Now I'm getting problems with my BU-303...

BLOODY TYPICAL!...GPS is the main reason for building this VanPC

OK I’m not looking for “OH ditch it and buy a decent GPS” answers…I’m looking for a bit of advice from BU-303 users…

My system is:

EMIA M10000
256 Ram
3.5” drive
Lilliput 7” touchscreen
BU-303 USB GPS Mouse
PW-120-M

Today I installed the BU-303…which took a while…it seems to have installed in as a USB to serial port adapter…gonna have to check and see what it loaded as to my laptop….as this does not ring a bell…

Today I finally got the system to the test stage…and on the road…

I placed the BU-303 where I usually put it when I was working with my laptop…and it took time to acquire satellites….quite a while actually…then when on the road..it was dropping satellites even in clear skies with no buildings near by.

I checked it with InfoMap Navigator 4…and Destinator 3 through Frodoplayer…also with GPS info…and although most of the time the LED wasn’t flashing…at one point…the LED was flashing…and GPS info told me that there was no lock.

I have noticed that the BU-303 is powered all the time from the PSU (PW-120-M).

I’m just wondering if maybe…the BU-303…just needs rebooting….and all will be well…maybe it’s as simple as that?...After all…it hasn’t been powered down since I installed the drivers...and all the problems I was having today…but I'm now only thinking about this...will try this in the morining...

Anyone got a similar system…and can give me any advice…on how I should be going about trying to resolve these problems…or how they use there system?

Also…was the BU-303 is powered…how long will it take to drain my battery?

Thanks in Advance to you all!

OK So I got to my VanPc again today...

The GPS is working since I rebooted the GPS...silly me!...I should have done that initially...but to be honest...I did not realize the USB ports are powered all the time.

I’m going to fit a master switch to cut power to the PC anyway….so this will mean that USB devices will be powered down…and will give my battery a rest.

Sometimes I’m away on business for a month at a time…so knowing that everything is off…gives peace of mind…

Thanks to all who read this…and I hope it helps someone.

interferance

if you place the BU303 near the lilliput, it might drop out because of the interferance caused by the lilli (and in my case, a xenarc).

just a thought if it continues too drop out.

AH!...Well that may tie in Fishy...I was trying the BU-303 right next to the lilliput on that ocaasion....the next day...I did move it away.

What would you recomend as a safe distance?...it's now about 18" away...and seems to be OK..

Thanks so much for your input!
