I'm confused

So all I need to buy is the GPS receiver? Don't I also needs maps? What about the software to use the maps and GPS receiver?
Is there anything specific I should look for in a GPS mouse? Accuracy, number of satellites, anything else?

∙ Most GPS receivers(antenna) come packaged with software and drivers (your milage may vary).
∙ A number of folks like to mix/match because their favorite software doesn't come w/ thier preferred antenna or vice versa.
∙ Most software comes w/a variety of maps (check to make sure your area is covered).
∙ Checkout GPSPassions, they've a great selection of reviews on both antenna and software. AND a great source of info regarding GPS knowledge.

OK, thanks. So if the antenna (GPS receiver) that I buy doesn't come with maps then I have to buy maps elsewhere? Does desitinator 3 have maps, or do I need map set to use destinator 3?

I just looked it up. It seems that comes with the software and the maps, right?
Can I use this with FrodoPalyer or any of the other programs on the site like MediaCar, MediaEngine, etc?

Comes with maps, Yes.
I use it in FrodoPlayer, don't know about the others.
Frodo's the best anyway. (IMO)

Sweet, thanks. Any recommendations for what to look for in a dongle?

You mean GPS receiver?
I use an Earthmate. Whatever software you go with, check their specs and see they want. IE: NMEA compatible.

I never used the Destinator...like Thanatos said, check them out.
It'll also work in FrodoPlayer. (I think)

Yeah, I meant GPS Receiver. Should I make my choice just by asthetic preference? Anything specific I should look for or are they pretty much the same?

Don't really know...sorry. But since you have neither software or hardware, buy a combined package and save some money.
