Macintosh gps/mapping

Anyone have any input/experiance on what would be a good choice for a osx based mapping software and gps unit for a mac?I havent seen alot of them out there,but theres a few.Just need some opinions

Same question here, but looks like I will have to go with a Windows machine

Thas all the info I have for now.I plan to purchase the software and test it with a friends gps reciever before i go buy my own to see how it works out.

I bought Route 66 two weeks ago ($40 at CompUSA) for use on a trip to Santa Barbara, CA (I live near Phoenix, AZ). I didn't have a GPS receiver (ordered a Rikaline 6010 earlier this week), so I was relying completely on turn-by-turn directions. It does a good, not great job. The interface is a bit kludgy and the software is pretty slow (on my Powerbook G4/400, anyway). The directions, however, are very solid, once you get used to the lingo - they call a freeway exit ramp a "slip road", for example. All in all, I'm very happy with it for the measly $40 investment. We'll see how it behaves with GPS - my Rikaline should be here today...

You can still get directions for each turn regardless of weather you have a GPS. The only thing a GPS does is let you get the direction for the turn you should make next.

gps would also auto updtae for turns made and things where as without the gps i imagine you have to skip to the next turn manualy i suppose

Alrighty - I've had a chance to screw with GPS hooked up to Route 66, albeit only for a little bit. The functionality is VERY minimal. Basically, it will show you where on the map you are, and it will continuously center the map to your current location. Supposedly you can use your current location as a starting point for a new route, but I haven't had time to figure out how to do it. That's about the extent of the GPS-supported functionality in Route 66. It won't warn you of an upcoming turn, much less give you a voice prompt. It is, however, useful and functional - it would be really nice to have on an out-of-town car trip...
