gps advice (in uk)

hi guys, just after some advice on which gps and map package to buy. i will only be using it in the uk. i would like the following: usb connection for data and power. clear on a 6.4 vga. voice directions would be good but only if it will 'talk over' the mp3 or cd if playing. also i would like to add all my customers as waypoints and look them up by name with some sort of auto-compleat feature, i dont have a keyboard so i would like an onscreen keyboard, anybody know of anything suitable? thanks!

Hi Hotponyshoes

You don't state your system...but:

I have a BU-303 USB GPS like many here on the forum...

It cost me £36.00 shipped from Hong Kong in 4 days...after buying it on eBay.

Just do a search for "GPS MOUSE"....

My mate bought one for £16.00 same deal from Honk Kong!

Stick Destinater 3 frontend (from around this forum) on to an XP system...and you are set!

Can even be integrated into Frodopalyer etc...

Voice guidance is excellant...and will be better with next revision...

Ninja Monkey will sugest you buy Desitinator 3...and when this new version is out...I intend doing just that!

I forgot to add:

I also have Navigator 4 from Infomap...I like that also....but it doesn't have a 3D view....Desitinator 3 does...and is easier to use.

But I think Navagator 4 may be more accurate...Destinator 3 had me wanting to go through a farmyard the other day

Have you ever been to Scotland?

It's actaully the place that the Tarmacadam you drive on was invented

err...no...I think you will find these days...there are just as many "dudes" floating about with NY Yankees baseball caps as there are in Wembley.

Have to ask...why do those kids....always wear those caps backwards...and drive Corsa's?

Was going to ask you Enforcer...you have BU-303...

I have been in London a few times in the last few months...and at that time...I was using my laptop with my BU-303...

I had the BU-303 stuck to my screen with the little sucker that comes with it....and had it placed at the top of my screen...

I travelled from K-West(Hotel) at Shepards Bush to Wembley Arena...and the GPS was lost many times...

Just wondered how your BU-303 stands up in London...maybe on that trip even?

I've since moved the BU-303 onto my dash, since I installed the VanPc ...almost right against the drivers piller...hoping that Sat's slightly behind me will still be in range...the BU-303 is now flatter, or more horizontal.

Maybe that will help?

Thanks

Wembley arena, now that's just a stones throw from my house. Ok maybe a longbow arrow shot in the air at the right trajectory.

The BU-303 usually performs quite well, but I find it does 'lose' itself now and again, but I think that happens with any unit in a built up area (had a haicom before and that was worse). Been along the A40 (Westway) (Dual carriage road) that goes through/over shepherds bush and normally it's OK, however if you go further East along that road into the more built up area I have noticed a few spots were it just loses all sats.

Hi ENFORCER

What a lot of work going on at Wembley just now....we must have done one of the last shows in the Arena before it closed....my friend stays across the road...and he says that there's a big marquee up now for the shows...while they do the Arena up...

Thanks for this reply...I'm now sure that it must have been where I had the GPS positioned…

The time before my last trip…I had to go into Hyde Park (I think the A40?...but this is why I need GPS )…and the high buildings did cause me to lose sats…but I think this is understandable. Saying that though…it got me to where I needed to go…and obviously home again

OH NO!!! THIS ISN’T MY HOUSE!!!
