Ive used the same BU-303 for about 2 years, no problems here in wisconsin. I use iguidance with it. I have had it mounted on my roof of the car, in the rear windows and on the front dash. I even got reception in my garage. I would make sure you are getting a fix with it. Make sure your not using a USB extension cable, if you need one, make sure it is a high quality cable. I had problem with this when I just used cheap cables. I switched to quality belkin cable and walla, it was fixed. The BU-303 is pretty good, accurate and should work fine.
TOns of people on this board use it and to here you have problems with it, makes me think it is in your install, cables or possibly your computer not putting out enough voltage through the USB port. ALso check how many USB devices you have hooked up. Dont run this through a hub either. It simply wont work.
Sorry to hear the problem but hope this will help.

Mines always been on the hub works fine. Maybe the hub needs to be a powered hub?

I've had occasional problems with mine.
I have trouble getting a lock when there's lots of high buildings, Birmingham city centre UK is one... I lose signal as I go into a certain part by the new Bull Ring and regain again after a few minutes.
I've also had issues if I haven't used the Car PC for a week or so (last time was fater I came back from holiday) and it took a day or so to 'get back to normal'.
Mounting in the Car I've had many problems.. in the corner of the dashboard (I have a heated windscreen but there is a 'gap' where there is no metal) it often has issues however my Road Angel GPS camera detector works fine there.. Always.
I've taken to mounting it on the roof at the back of the car which seems to be the best bet but I think before long I've be scrapping the BU303 and going for something a bit more upmarket.
The road angel GPS reciever unit inside the unit is made by Holux, I might get one of those.

I've had the BU-303 sitting on my rooftop since May .. I've driven across the country without removing it -- through rain, snow, extreme heat -- you name it -- and it's never skipped a beat. It's been in a block of ice, under snow, in the freezing temps and it's been great -- and no I haven't weather proofed it. Of course, after saying all this, I bet it'll break lol...
always locks too..

I've got mine on a powered 1.1 hub with my ATI RF remote and my USB 2.5" drive, and haven't had any problems. It's got an extension cable on it as well.

Ok, I finally managed to find a good spot for it. I've glued it to the rear, openable windscreen in the back, just over the windscreen wiper. Works fairly good, get lock on between 7 and 12 sats.
