Also, once the maps are drawn you can click and drag inside the map to scroll it.
Very cool.

truly amazing map. Oh man, can't wait till they do something more than that. (GPS)
Just imagine using this as the mapping software.
With internet connection, they can do live traffice reports too. Now that would be something I would like to see.

Google definitely is taking over the world. I saw that Google maps thing the other day and definitely played with it for a while, it's going to be amazing once it's done. Their news site has been up for quite a while and is still in Beta so hopefully the maps don't take as long.
There is also talk of Google releasing a browser to compete with FireFox and IE, I can't wait for the Beta of that.
I plan to use that over mapquest and yahoo maps once I get my carputer running (plus the GPS of course) but it will be nice to use a Google product.

It should be fairly easy to write an app that would tie this to GPS as long as you have internet access fromn your carputer. The search box accepts lat/long in the format +-dd.dddd, +-dd.dddd. Getting an application to extract that from NMEA and send it to IE should not be rocket science.

You guys do realize that google is taking over our lives. I'd argue that they're marketing strategy is similar to Apple's except they're doing a much better job because everything is free free free! Just think-iLife doesn't stand a chance. Marry me Google!

some one should be able to right a pop up that request your address and where you want to go to and feed that into google in the background. Google map does allow you to put address in...exp 3133 smith ro, Hell, MI 48166 to 3333 heaven st, portsmouth, va 43701
Now that is just bogus info but that is how you can get z detailed map. I did it with my address and a destination and it works alot better than mapquest.
