Gonna throw my Deluo GPS mouse in the river!
OK, I've been messing around with my Deluo GPS mouse (USB) for way too long. The damn thing just won't cooperate.
Here's the deal:
- the first time I plugged it in, it worked fine.
- after the first restart, I get the jumpy mouse error, so I load the fix for it off of Deluo's site.
- then the GPS works for a while, then looses signal for no reason and won't re-lock.
- I reboot and I get the jumping mouse again!
- I disable the "serial mouse" in the device manager and uninstall it. Then the GPS works for a while, but takes forever to get a lock.
- So I move the GPS away from my Liliput (to the rear deck)
- I had to change what USB port the GPS was in, and now I'm back to the jumping mouse bit again!
- I fix that, but still have locking problems. So I move the GPS to the roof of the car (outside) and again have to change the USB port.
- again jumping mouse! again fix it, and now it won't lock at all!!!!
Any suggestions? I'm about to throw it out and buy a different unit. Can anyone tell me a unit that definitely doesn't do the jumping mouse bit?
Thanks,
Tom

"Start"=dword:00000004
the problem went away.
I had to manually edit mine as well with my Deluo mouse.

I had the jumping mouse thing with my cheap and nasty Haicom (HI-203E) and the way I cured it is I disabled the Microsoft Serial Ballpoint mouse in device manager, but left it installed. Now whenever it decides that the GPS receiver is a mouse it is already disabled and no problems at all.
Don't think this will fix all your probs, but it's a start.

Thanks guys!! I appreciate the info. I knew someone had to be having the same trouble. I will DEFINITELY try the manual registry change.
I tried disabling the serial ballpoint mouse once, and it worked temporarily. But I still had lock problems. Just for the heck of it, I uninstalled the ballpoint and I got a good signal and lock in a minute or two. Of course, the ballpoint jumping problem came right back as soon as I rebooted. It would be OK for a couple hibernations, but a reboot would definitely screw it up.
Thanks again,
Tom

Well, I manually edited the registry before I left the office parking lot and it seemed to work fine all the way home and all the way to work this morning. I'm not getting too many satellites from the rear deck, so now I'll have to figure where a good place for the GPS mouse is. I would love to put it on the roof, but I'm afraid some a$$hole will cut/rip it off.
