I should only need that card, right? Would I need anything else other than an extension cable?

Hey Red,
I just ordered this Sirf III eval board to replace my Garmin 15L. I'm hoping to get better sat coverage when driving near trees/buildings.
You can buy either the board by itself or as a kit. I'm getting just the board since I already have an antenna, and I will hook it up to the RS232 port on my mobo and power it from 5v.
The kit comes with the board, an active antenna, serial cable, lithium battery and wall power supply (which you probably won't need).

I've been using that Sirf III board for a couple months now. Works great - almost instant lock and pretty much continuously tracks at least 6 sats, even under trees and around buildings.

I'm using the ET301 (without the battery), and am very happy with it.
I regularly get 8 sats locked, and by the time I boot up, it's already locked. If you're not completely shutting down every time you exit the car, you'll want the battery.

click on the 'datasheet' link, it will have all of the information you need, including the connector type.

Since my shuttle pc does not have a internal serial port header, I made this adapter so I can just plug it into the serial port on the back of the machine.
I also put in the SMA connector so I can disconnect the antenna when I take the computer out of the car.
Wow, sorry to resurect such an old thread. But does anyone know what each type of connector that is that is going from the GPS module to the back plate? I want to make a cable identical to this for my setup and want to know for sure what kinds of connectors to look for.

that is a MMCX to SMA adapter
this is close to the cable you need but the problem with this one is that the SM connector is reverse polarity, which is used for Wi-Fi applications

Ah, thanks. So will this work?

It's so damn expensive!
edit: This looks like a more reasonable price...though i need to find out if that is a male or female SMC connector:

Sorry to post here, but people are saying that they have a lock upon boot, is this the case from hibernation or fresh boot?
I have the ayay sir USB GPS and it gets plenty of sats, but when hibernating it takes awhile to get a new lock for some reason, like it is looking in the old spot for sats and doesn't immediately start a new scan or something. I say that b/c if you do a quick stop it locks right on, but after like an hour stop things take awhile.
