There was a thread on this earlier. If you're getting the "tab won't initialize" error, go to the Delorme site and download the magnetic declination update. Yes, the MAGNETIC DECLINATION update.

Those dolts made Street Atlas break if the declination file went out of date. Which it did in January.

I just had the same issue with SA2004. I found a link on Delorme stating that is was a corrupt data issue. I uninstalled the data only through add/remove programs and then deleted the folder C:\Program Files\Street Atlas Data. This seemed to work for me.

I then reinstalled the data. You could at least test it with the cd connected and if it works, then reinstall the data. You probably will be able to tell by the size of the data folder. Mine was only like 70k after it was corrupted vs. the actual size of the install which is around a couple hundred meg.

So it would seem that your data installation is complete. I wonder if you could just rename the folder for testing purposes and then see if it will run correctly from the cd. At least this way you would know.

On delormes forum they have a link to the fix i turned off the print tab and that made it not work. so i put it back and it is working again... Im still thinking about getting copilot.

I'm sorry that I just stumbled across your post, but that was the exact same reason mine wouldn't calculate the route. It just made a straight line from point-to-point. We had a wierd issue today where the screen no longer displayed our current position. It self-healed after a complete reboot (vs. our normal reboot from hibernate).

I didn't realize you were getting straight lines. This happened to me as well and the Print tab was the fix. I sort of like Street Atlas until this crap started to occur.

Just make sure you keep the GPS antenna away from XM.

Hehe, I have the GPS on the rear of the car under the rear plastic 3rd break light and XM 6“ front the front windshield. I haven’t had any problems at all.

Only software issues.
