GPS Voice Input for Pocket PC's
I tried out many of the touch-screen gps, and the interfaces are rather cumbersome....The programs seem to have been designed for the convenience of the programmer and not the end user.
I discovered this when I went to CompUSA to check out the available GPS. My biggest gripe has to do with inputting street addresses.
We have to input the street name in one menu...the address number in another...and the city in still another menu using the rather cumbersome touchscreen GPS interface.
When I think of voice input, I think of inputting destinations like this:
"888 South F-I-G-U-E-R-O-A Street"
"L-o-s A-n-g-e-l-e-s California"
and be done with it without having to mess with all the menus of City, Street Name, Street Number.
Also, I notice when I use mapquest or something similar, and there is more than one route (by freeway), Mapquest will automatically route the shortest-- but not necessarily the most expeditious-- route.
Is there any voice-GPS software for pocket pc's that you would recommend that could overcome these two obstacles?
