pharos 360 - was good, now not so good

I started using it in feburary sometime and worked great . found the sats quickly.. with MS S&T and Routis

in the last few weeks however it has been getting bad.. and it seems like it sees that sats but they are in "red" on the GPS info screen on routis, then in about 5-10 minutes it will work.. and be fine for as long as it's running..

I could understand if it was always like this.. but why the change.. it has stayed in the same spot on my dash, I just re wrapped my "snake" of cable with some wire wrap and re-routed them all .. but they had been wrapped before, and I tried out delorme street atlas (peice of junk) .. but other than software installs and un installs.. nothing on the hardware side has changed..

here's what i did (copied from a previous post)

Ok, you need a copy of the latest SirfDemo.exe. Open the program and its gonna ask you to select your com port and baud rate. Your defaults should be already listed so just hit ok. Then you'll have to hit the connect button ( little button that looks like two wires unplugged). From there go to Action/Synchronize protocol and baud rate . After you hit that look on the title bar and it should do some testing with various baud rates. It should stop on 4800 (the only one that works with our GPS). Click save. Click ok.. exit program. On the way home from work (before i did this) the most sats i had was 3. On the way to work today (after) i averaged 9. Also seemed to speed up the time it took to display to iguidance. Hope it works for you!

Do this, if your sats dont improve there may be something wrong with ur gps.

i downloaded sirfdemo and tried the above, but i'm getting weird results? When i opened the program it did not have my default settings chosen (COM1 mine is connected on COM3) and when i hit the button at the top left with the wires connecting a bunch of stuff pops up on the "Debug View" window and it doesn't seem to stop.

What am I doing wrong?
