iGuidance SDK

Its finally available. ................not really

But I got your attentions didn't I, sorry about that.

Alright guys I emailed iNav about the SDK for iGuidance. As we all know there is no SDK available for iguidance. The response I got back for them sounds as if they think that there is no interest in the SDK so they are not developing one currently. I feel that with the number of members on this board we all could send a email to iNav and show them there is an interest in the SDK. They may consider creating one and then we could have a very nice interface for iguidance like Map Monkey.

I really like iguidance but like the rest of you, hate the interface. Love the interface for May Monkey, but don't like the routing. If we could get iNav to create a SDK just think how awesome the interface could be.

Everyone interested in having a better interface for iguidance should email iNav saying they are interested in obtaining an SDK for iGuidance 2.x
Here is a link to their site with the email address. I sent my email to support.
http://www.inavcorp.com/contact.html

Now lets get this SDK.

Here is the email I sent to iNav and there response.
My email
Quote:
Hello,

I am writing to inquire if there is and SDK (Software Development Kit)
available for the iGuidance navigation software. If there in no SDK
currently available, is a SDK for the software under development. I
would like to receive the SDK for this navigation software because I
would like to have better control of the program with my touchscreen
computer. I have the current theme.ini files but there are still some
issues that this file does not address. I would like to use the SDK
to make the software more user friendly for the consumers that use a
touchscreen as their main input into the software. Currently there
are many items such as the menu screen and the zoom buttons which are
not suited for in car applications with a touchscreen. With an SDK I
feel I would be able to control the software with much more ease and
in a safer manner. I look forward to your reply.

Thank You.

There response.

w/o no further info from the programming dept.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Well I sent the customer support department an email expressing my desire for them to develop a SDK. Now about 1000 other people need to do it and they just might make one!

I thought more people would be interested in have an SDK. What, do you all like the current state of the software?
Everyone always complains about the interface but when we can try to get an sdk no one cares.

I've sent my email to INav. I also mentioned the potential gain in customers they could have for their software if they were to release an SDK, making it a more flexible application. It's worth a shot....

Well, I got a response from them today:

"Unfortunately, SDK development has been put on hold at the current time w/ no ETA.

Thank you for your interest.
Support Team"

At least it wasn't identical to Quattro-A4's response.

I believe your sales would be impacted greatly by the carputing community if you could offer an SDK for your software.

Other software applications comparable to yours offer SDKs, such as Destinator 3. Many users simply buy D3 because it's catered to in dash touchscreens.

With the progress of many in-car interface programs, they are supporting GPS applications.

They support iGuidance, along with Destinator 3 and Routis.....but many people don't use the iGuidance simply because of the interface issues with a smaller screen.

Thanks for your time. I look forward to your reply.

Thanks for the sample email you sent. It definately made it easier for us to write them.

We'll see what they say to that. LoL

This is another great example of why we need a general software bounty system. We always tell these companies "You'll make more money". Yeah right. With a bounty system you could all put your money where your mouth is and offer the bounty. Is it worth $50 to 200 of you? Now we're talking an incentive.

Finally, you guys are starting to send out the emails. If they get enough emails, I really hope they will consider the sdk. If anyone gets a positive response from iNav please inform us as well.
