Infiniti/Nissan OEM Navigation help

I am hoping that I have come to the right place to solve my dilemma. I bought an OEM Infiniti Navigation system from ebay that is normally installed on an Infiniti QX4. (Model no. CC5W 3950C) I want to install it in a 1999 Infiniti G20. The G20 does not have navigation as an option. I have not found any on-line info yet that says this will work. I am willing to do the hard work, learn and be the test guinea pig. (I don’t mind running new wiring, tapping into the ecu, etc.)

I have the G20 factory service manual but I need to find out where to get the information for the navigation assembly pin-outs. Also, the navigation assembly did not come with a GPS antenna. Can an aftermarket GPS antenna be modified to make it work? The navigation manual indicates that the navigation system works by combining the data obtained from the vehicle (by gyro sensor) and from GPS satellites to calculate the current location of the car. Is a gyro sensor a separate unit? The local infiniti dealer was not very helpful and told me what I’m trying to accomplish will not work.

I am hoping that somebody has already done this before, not necessarily on the same car but has added a n OEM navi set-up to a non-navi car. Please show me the way.

Mods, feel free to move this if it is not in the correct section.

Yes. The unit says display assembly navigation and the infiniti dealership confirmed that there is no separate "brain"?

my opinion, dealer navs are crap. Yoou're better off getting third part and have it interface with a PC. Even ZDNet thinks they suck. But if you an get it working, its cool. I just don't think i twill be worth it.

Agree! Why don't you get a car PC?
