does anyone know of a standalone GPS and nav system that i could use with a screen but without the PC? please link if available...thanks!!

Not sure what exactly you're looking for, but..

Kenwood KNA-DV4100 $1,199

It requires a screen to be hooked up. Says "can be controlled by a compatible Kenwood touchscreen monitor, or with the optional KNA-RC300 remote control". Only has RCA out so using a regular VGA TS is out.

Pioneer AVIC-N2 $1,999

6.5" indash TS monitor/navigation/DVD player

Garmin StreetPilot 2620 $1,099

Has a 2.2GB microdrive, a touchscreen, but I don't think there is support for a larger monitor. It has a 3.3" x 1.7" screen with a resolution of 305 x 160 pixels.

If you're looking for navigation with a screen and no PC, these are pretty much your options. Note the prices though. The cheapest is over a grand. You could do a nice carpc install for that price.
