I know it's the same pocket and that the backlight project is very cool as well.
JC does it matter if I'd use the backlight link to "sponsor" the Ublox stuff ?

yup you can use the same link
I would just build the schematic, but it would be silly to spend the money on a prototype board with no unit to test it with thats the only reason I want to get a module myself

ok a few questions for everyone, as I know everyone will be mounting this diffrent ways.
1. Does anyone want a non rs323 output such as to a microcontroller?
2. Do you want the gyro mounted on the same board as the module or on a separate board connected by a cable
3. do you want to power the unit from car power or from the dc PSU of your carputer?
i'm sure i'll come up with more questions as I go along

I think it would be cool if it were as small as possible, one board or stalked on two doesn't matter. It would be cool if it could be mounted in the case with the pc and powered by it. It would save wireing if nothing else. Plug n play...

so that you just plug it into the module and go

Hey Laidback, did you apply a bias voltage for the active antenna?

But hey atleast I admit it...it work but how well?
How many meters before it mess up. How well does it cope in many sharp left/right turns before it goes way out?
You see? it works aint good enough

I want to see a proper test report - ie drive round for a bit then disconnect the antenna or put a metal cover over it.

Cool JC, cant wait... would you build a complete unit? I dunno how your time is so you tell us... I'd be willing to pay you solder it up and make one compact unit, powered by the PC cpu, with just a serial connector direct to the headers on the mobo, a antenna connector and a molex for 5v as well as speed/reverse wiring from the car.

sure, i'm gonna have the protoboards anyways so I wouldnt mind building one up for you. You would just have to buy the module and plug it in everything else would be ready to wire up
I've been working on the circuit most the night now, everything is going good, just sucks having to learn a new layout program.

Cool, so whenever you want my moneys let me know!
So I would order the ublox module and the ublox gyro right?
everything else will be in your circuit? will these modules be pluggin or do these also need some soldering? (If you make most of it I can have someone solder these two modules)...
Can't wait, name yer price JC !
