Just search for max233. UK website says 655-307. Go to Maxims website and order a sample, for nothing!

both of those will work just fine

I had to work all weekend, so I havent had a chance to start on the board, but I was thinking of just using a right angle PCB mount DB9, that way you could use standard serial cables and extensions

But I am going to order the module tonight and get working on it. I really should have one of the modules so I can make sure everything fits good, kind of hard to make the board blind.

Oh, did I sound rude? I'm sorry. *sulks*
I didn't mean to rush Laidback, just a friendly reminder ^_^

Roy, seems like you and me is on the same stage of development. Just a question on the gyro. Which side is up? LOL... I'm looking at it in my hand and don't know if the orientation matters when placing it on the board. Does it has to be position in a certain direction?

Yeah, I think so. Well, the pin end is the bottom() and afaik it needs to go with the 4 pin row towards the front of the car.

1. anything on the same row is connected to each other right? So is row 15 means to connect gyro to ground and to pin 10 on UBlox?

2. what does the loopback mean? I'm not good with electronic and have no idea what's loopback.

3. what's the com2 for? I thought you only need 1 com port but you listed 2 com ports connection. I can disregard com2 right?

Other than these 3 uncertainties, I think I understand everything else.

Again, thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for doing this.

1, Correct & correct.
2, With Loop, I just mean it's connected to another pin on itself, i.e. on the Max233 you need to connect pin 11 to pin 15.
3, Yes, you can disregard the Com2 column.

Mine's been in the car for nearly a week now and it's great! There are plenty of tunnels in Madrid, some with bends and/or junctions and It's performed pretty much flawlessly.

Edit: Oh, and I haven't connected the forward/backward wire yet. Just don't do that much reversing anymore!

Okay, I think I have everything wire up (almost). Now just waiting for that stupid 2mm pitch connector to arrive.

I might install the backup battery while I wait. So how is the battery supposed to be connected? 5v battery to battery line and ground?

Oh, and the reverse line is just connects to the backup light power line right? If it detects voltage, it consider reverse. Right?

I wouldn't think so but I'm not sure, I don't have one at the moment.

No, it needs to go to ground when in reverse, I still haven't done this either.
