how many satalittes do most of you connect to?
hey, i was just wondering how many satalites you guys are able to connect to,
Here in the suburbs of chicago, my garmin 16a connects to only 7 of 12 satalites. Although it gives me precise directions using iguidance v2.0, is there a way to get more connections for greater accuracy.

I get an absolute max of 6 in my driveway and thats with the reciever outside of the car pointed straight up
In the car I get 5
I really dont know why I get so few but I figure if I can get at least 5 Im fine (minimum for a good fix is 3).

Three will only give you a 2D accuracy of about 25-50 metres depending on how the satellites are visible at that time. If all 3 are in broadly the same direction then accuracy falls way off to as much as 500 metres. For the most accurate fix you need 5 satellites from as many directions as possible.

Just returned from a 4000km trip. 90% of the trip... I was connected to 8 of 10 satellites. Sometimes a full complement, never less than 6.

Earthmate under rear shelf = usually 5 to 7 all the time even under trees.
Garmin 15L oem w/antenna on top of shelf = 9 to 12 except under trees, the < 3.

Garmin 15H here and norm is 10 with 8 being low and 12 being somewhat common too.
But like wi77iam, under tree's its <3, actually, mine just drops the signal. still haven't looked into that issue. Seems to be sensative to interference.
