Would I see benefit in switching recievers from...

Would I see any benefit from switching GPS recievers from my current Rand McNally serial reciever to a new USB reciever like the BU303 or Rikaline or Earthmate or whatever

I bought the Rand McNally because at the time it was the only reciever that worked with CoPilot (except the copilot branded reciever). Since though the new versions of CoPilot now support all GPS recievers with NMEA output (correct, yes?)
With my serial Rand McNally Ive been getting really ****ty sat lock times and been only getting a max of 5-6 sats even with the reciever on top of my car

Think its worth switching?

I don't know if you would see any benefit as I haven't used that reciever but ya the new versions of CoPilot work with any reciever.
