Help me decide, please.
I am trying to decide on which of these GPS systems I want to get. I know that most people here build their own carputers and such, but I like the idea of a factory system. (so please only comment about which one of these you prefer and why, thanks.)
First I was going to go with the Pioneer AVIC-D1 ( http://pioneerelectronics.com/pna/pr...219118,00.html)
Then, I just saw this new system in a Good Guys ad. It's the ECLIPSE AVN5435 ( http://www.eclipse-web.com/avn/index.html).
Both systems are touch-screen, double-DIN navigation systems with options of rear-view camera, and satellite radio. The Eclipse can play DVD videos while the other can't, and the Eclipse has a built in hard drive for mp3 storage.
Thanks for any info you may provide!

Ok, I thought the 'GPS' forum would be the best place for rating GPS systems, no?

It's more about how to get GPS navigation working on a computer in your car.
The whole point of these forums is vehicle computing and everything it can do.
We've all gone witht he idea of building our own computer to handle the functions of higher-priced units (like your Pioneer).

indeed.. even if you could buy a pre-made navi system, at sub $1000 (maybe you can) most of us would still make our own.. because it's jsut what we do, so know the system how it works, and how to fix it, and when someone says "is that a pioneer?" you can replay with "you can't buy this, I made it" .. but if you something reliable and stock-ish maybe go with one of those systems and spend the $2k+ .... at any rate, good luck..

honestly, going for a major maker for a navi system is the best right now cause i havent found any PC based gps software that can come CCCCCCCLOSE to aftermarket head units (or stock nav systems in newer cars).

That would be CoPilot Live.
It was made for fleet navigation and vehicle tracking.
Sorry if it doesn't work for you, but hey. That's life.

Have you checked the screenless - voice only "VCOMM"? I hear you can even play blackjack with it. http://www.sbhcorp.com/scripts/homeS...6-61-70-2.html
