UK / Euro Users - PrymeNav V2 UK & EU. Is this the same as iGuidance?

Hi guys,

I spotted this software over at GPSsystems:

http://www.globalpositioningsystems....roduct_id=2280

From what I can find it is made from the same engine as iGuidance v2. It seems to be exactly the same but with UK/EU mapping data.

Does anyone use it?
Can it be integrated the same way as IGuidance into RR or CF?
I am mainly concered with routing quality and how up to date the maps are! Can the map data be updated? The 3D view looks very pretty.

I would try it, but the company selling it do not do a refund on software that has been opened, hence if its crap I will have wasted £75! I would love to be able to try an evaluation version but sadly none is available. (No wonder people crack/pirate GPS software )

Thanks for any advice/opinions offered.
Anees

Looks quite interesting!

Can they confirm if it's the same engine/interface? I can't find a web site for 'Fortuna PrymeNav'

I am tempted to buy it. But if its no good I cannot return it so I'm trying to gather as much information as I can about it.

I really does seem to be almost a UK version of iGuidance. It is based on the same engine:

Here is the GPS Passon forums section of PrymeNav:

Not alot going on really.

If only I could try it first I WOULD buy it.

Indeed the version of PrimeNav software you are considering to purchase is based on the same software like iGuidance. That will be the last version of that, though. Now PrimeNav is working on a new product which will no longer have the same look and feel. It I believe will no longer use NavTeq maps either, but rather TeleAtlas will be the map data provider. Some time ago I recall seeing screenshots of it on PrimeNav website (if memory serves), but I don't see them now. It was too "fancy" for my liking ;-)

I'm not sure when they plan to release that new "version", but iGuidance should be releasing their European version, too.

Do they have a website?

I wouldn't deal with any Sat Nav developer that doesn't answer technical questions quickly and helpfully. I've had enough of HSTC (Destinator) and Navigations Ltd (InfoMap Navigator) as both are unhelpful and there's little point looking at other software than Destinator unless the manufacturer/developers are interested in the Car PC scene.

Their website:

PS Marvin based on your recommendations and reading your mini-review on GPS Passion I have ordered the Holux GPS Slim GR-236 and USB data cable! Can't wait for it to arrive!

;-) That’s excellent. My 236 actually was a faulty unit and I sent it back, but I asked for another 236, because I really think it has almost all I have ever wanted in a GPS receiver ;-)
