Visual GPS

Does anyone know why my signal bars never go blue, always gray. It says in the help that they will go blue if they are being used in the calulation. However have never had them go blue, even though the Navigation pin points me fine. In the bottom right corner of window it says 'GPS fix available' but never says 'locked' or 'fixed to satalites' (or whatever it would say!)

Have always wondered if my GPs mouse works ok, does this suggest it is a little crap?

Can someone help me figure this out, what happens on yours?
