This looks like the best GPS software!

Has any recently tried teletype navigation software. This software seems to cover every possible technology that you will need. Smart traffic the ability to track your route based from the flow of traffic on your route. Web based vehicle tracking the ability to track your vehicle via the internet. Weather tracking the ability to track real time weather in your area. Great for convertibles. The maps seem pretty detailed. The entire system is a bit pricey but if you want the latest technoloy this seems like it.

it's about $130 for the software alone... which isn't that outrageous compared to other stuff out there... and it's a bit foolish suggesting it might be the best GPS software without even having tried it... sure, it has some features, but how well do they work? how well does it take to being integrated into a frontend? there are lots of other questions to be answered.

I did not say it is the best I said that IT LOOKS LIKE the best. There is a difference.

One thing for sure is that it isn't touch screen friendly.

they say the SDK only provides access to their menus (whatever that means), so you can't integrate it into your app like you can MapPoint for instance. oh yeah, it costs US $495!!!!!!!!!!! (not including the consumer software)

you probably could, using the embedding method the frontends use, but who's going to pay $495 for the SDK???

Being naive, how do you know it wouldn't work well with a touchscreen?

I think the Teletype website is poor quality - hard to discover anything about the software from that.

Hi guys

I bought the software Teletype GPS Pro version last year. I am living in Greece, the software is GREAT, but as you said the philosophy behind the design is not car oriented, but they are going to release something that it will be in the next months.

I will get the SDK, and yes the software is easy to integrate with every software, I am using my front end, but it is working also with RR and I think with all the other.

For the moment one thing is that is bugging me, when the program is losing the focus and you are in media browser or somewhere else the software is stop working (that means it is not giving routing information)!!!!

I am talking with the technical department because I am going to perpare a carPC version and they said that it will be fixed. I hope so.

All the other stuff mentioned before is true and it has very good routing without errors, even for Greece which just 2 years before descivered Navigation!!!! For Athens it has for most areas the oneway notifications so it is counting on for the route, you can avoid/use highways, get the shortest path or the quickest, avoid or use ferryboats, ... it has plenty of options, load maps for specific areas or load a more general like national ...

And yes, their site sucks. Especially the previous was a jungle, but the are making good software and this is something that counts.

Updates for Greece are for free, this is something that the representator told me and this was done when new upgrades were released.

I think that the software diserve a better luck and a new CarPC oriented look and feel.

Have you tried it? The site said that it was not allowing any downloads. Has any used it with a gps reciever?

Yeah man, it is. I'm curious if anyone has picked up a copy of Google Earth Plus; the one that has GPS support. I want to know if it allows offline usage.

Doubt it seing how the maps are downloaded from their servers in real-time.
If google wants to make a buck, they can release a standalone version with all the maps available offline. I bet it would take several gigabytes just to install maps for one state.
