I tested this software.

1) Very very slow just to start the software. (It's based on Dot Net frame work)
2) GPS map can zoom in and then cannot zoom back out during testing it
3) The interface is very ugly.

Actually the latest update that I downloaded last week to version 1.4 makes it fly on my Xenarc P4 and is pretty responsive on the VIA that I have in my wife's car. As for the it being ugly...I dig it and I think the night mode is hot. That's just my opinion. They did provide me with the skin schema and was contemplating making my own but never got around to it.

iMobile Screenshots

Roy,

These are the pics they sent to me when I asked for screenshots prior to purchasing the system. With the newest update the satellite radio interface changed. I sent them an email today to see if I can create my own shots to post as it won't violate any EULA or the like. If they give me the approval I'll post the latest ones which I'll capture on the way home.

iMobile shots

Click on 'View photos without signing in' on the right hand side.

They gave me an informative power point presentation with these screenshots and more. I'll ask if I can post it on the web somewhere for you guys to download.

I like everything except the music. How hard is it to get to your MP3's and does it show you "currently playing" information?

I played around with iMobile a bit and the only good thing I have to say about it is that is just works. It doesn't do anything particularly innovative. Its obvious your on a computer since they use alot of unskined controls. i.e. combo / text boxes / calendar. The navigation although fully integrated, looks to me alot like destinator, I don't know for sure, but I would be willing to bet money that if its not destinator its definitly some other 3rd party navigation. In all the only thing I think it offers over the free front ends is that its very easy to setup. You don't have to spend hours trying to get things working. However, the interface is far from intuitive or just lacking in many place so you still might have to spend hours figuring out how to do something.

If you can actually get one of the free front ends setup and working I find there is little else that iMobile offers over them.

I love it. It's all plug-n-play - not one INI file to edit or COM port to set. There are a higher level of street details that get eliminated when you're over about 55. I noticed it removes unnecessary street names when you're ehmmm....flying...and keeps the major roads, highways and the like. Once you slow down it restores them. I've played with Destinator and it's definitely not destinator, it's way too advanced. It even has routing for trucks and rvs where it eliminates U-turns.

The media player shows current track data, visualizations and the like. There is a media tools section where I can sync mp3's and the like from external devices and rip cds using the cddb.

This started out as a few answer for guys that don't have the system and has turned into a damn sales pitch. Maybe I'll resell for them on eBay or something

Anyway took a look at your Ubiquity thing...do you have a demo?
