oh yeah, i had seen this thing...
400$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RR-$0
Frodo-$0
NMC-$0
and so forth and so on....
I dont think it uses its own navigation... I think it just embeds somethig like other frontends

Is this its own GPS software or does it just embed a 3rd party program?

oh, sorry for not putting the link on,,,forgot,,
yeah, but i think it is the whole navigation software by itself. looks very nice,,,
but they say only 1 licence key per computer...
i just wanted to know if it would install on multiple computer? since the program can be intalled on to the computer and you don't have to put the cd in for navigation.

There is no evidence from what I saw that it is its own navigation... it is a full frontend for audio/video/nav/PIM... again unless you ask them and they tell you it is running its own nav software (and they can guarantee uptodate maps - unlikely if the nav software is theirs cause they are unlikley to have the volume of sales to keep up good maps of multiples areas!) I'm going to be thinking they embed some other nav suite.

I do have the iMobile Executive Edition running on a Xenarc Celeron 2.0GHz box and the navigation is an integral part of the system. I saw it at Xenarc's booth at CES and loved it. Yes it is over 300 but if you look at stand alone nav SW it goes up to about 500 and although I do respect everyone here especially frodo, this is a commercial app with full time support and feedback. They update/upgrade it for free and it's a single app install. For those of you looking for the sweet stuff - it's here and it works but has a price attached. For those of you putting together a system on the cheap - it's not the answer.

Interesting, yes with GPS it isnt too expensive...
What maps do they use? What places do they have? I wonder what OCX or other method they are using to accomplish this support... surely they didnt buy the raw data and make their own engine
But yeah, the pricing is fine if we consider that it has GPS+Mapping...
Can you post many screenshots please?

and upos further reasearch......
http://www.imobilepc.com/EIM-1.htm
if all of this worked (including the "Future Release"s) this would be tha shabang of carpc hardware!
-gps dead reckoning
-relay control/input/output (upto 48 in/outs)
- SDC
-dvd changer connection
-OBD
in ONE box... I'm not even sure if they will ever be able to do that stuff... although I guess maybe a computer->alpine bus converter + a usb capture card in the box would probably be able to control the dvd... OBD is std elm chip would be ok, sdc shouldnt be that hard... but getting all that into 1 connection wouldnt be easy (if at all possible) it would prolly be a box with a bunch of wires connecting out to the carpc (like 4 USBs, one for each function? - oh wait, they can just stick a hub at the end! )
But it sounds cool anyways...

I'll put some screenshots up tonight. As for my correspondences with them, they said that the data is based on Navteq data but they want to move over to Tele Atlas.
I do have 6 I/Os on mine currently that I use for winch and tailgate controls.

hi jakem,,, do you know if this imobile would work on more than one pc?
and another thing>> does this actually show you the road image as your driving as one of the screen mode option?
for example, the second to last image on this site>>>> http://www.xenarc.com/product/imobile.html

The road image is only simulated and it changes when I put my headlights on from day to night mode. I called them about the multiple PC question as I was looking for that as well. They explained to me that the editions with navigation require an additional per seat fee to accomodate Navteq's licensing (about $50) and it must be registered to the same name.
I didn't hook up the reverse camera trigger as the Xenarc monitor has a cool feature. The auto AV2 switch which will change the input to AV2 upon the presence of a video signal (i.e. backup camera powered on).
