GPS Software views
Hi all
Is there any software out there that shows the view like a third person type thing, where u see everything on the road ahead visualised on the screen, like some OEM gps systems now do?
Thanx James

No not birds eye, i mean like a game of quake or doom lol, where it shows the road ahead from ground level, as if the monitor was a windscreen, if that makes sense

The nearest you'll get to that is probably Viamichelin Mapstore, but it's not very touch screen friendly..
In the 3d view you can tweak the settings to adjust the view...

That's a screenshot of the PDA part of it, but it also runs on a PC. The three lines can be moved to adjust the perspective...

Destinator does 3D but you are still looking from above and you can't adjust the perspective....

James I do fear one day we may be exposed to products like that. At the first sight it may appeal to potential users, some infrequent drivers may like it, but I’m afraid I would not want to have to view all that unnecessary distracting graphics on my screen several hours a day, every single day I drive.
I like my roads to be just plain lines, no more than 1 or 2 pixels wide. Anything more creates information overload for me.

Thats cause you are getting too old for this!
(Sorry couldnt resist... you sound like my grandma on that! ) but yeah, I understand where you are going, and I wholly agree... but I'd like it for sometimes.... maybe from top-view, or wider angle it might be useful to find some refernce points and such...
I had seen another shot that wasnt SO detailed... it had outline of buildings and such and that was awesome.... as to having what they have here, migh as well just use aerial images....
