Very cool project, I have been working on something identical.

We use the Verizon Wireless solution and can pull up the google maps in the car.The service has recently dropped from $80 to $60 per month. (Still to much) The t and c's of the google map agreement stops anyone selling their app and does not provide any time frame for how long this service will be offered. They also specifly mention that there may be advertising in the future and you agree not to alter it.

Seeing they are giving it to use for free I am not complaining. I am just giving the reasons why I prefer to use IGuidance for everything other then live tracking.

Leddy are you going to make this open source so people can run it on there own webserver? I am almost finished with my app but I have one SQL statement that won't play nice.

Can I PM you the code?

Video links in first post, thanks Wiredwrx!

No plans at this point to be open source, or not to be. I'm just trying to get it finished

I have some ideas on how to improve it as well, so it's an ever evolving project.

Not sure if i saw this in the thread. Can your software track multiple cars? Side question (sorry to whore) does IGuidance have an easy to use api/sdk?

Nice work.. This is exactly what I've been working towards also!!

I have seen LowJack at work and it really makes me want to add GPS reporting to my CarPC.. It's one thing to limit the RPM of my car when I hand it over to my mechanic/tire shop/alignment expert, it's another all together to see where he drove it to put the 1.8km extra I find on it when I pick it up.

So anytime you need a beta tester (in Canada even!) just let me know. I'm currently running a USB BU303 but looking to upgrade. I'm using windows xp (tablet edition) and my uplink would be TCP/IP.

Great work!
